Irrigation system maintenance

An improperly maintained irrigation system can devastate your lawn and gardens. The damage may not stop there, especially in cases in which an irrigation system is installed without proper permitting and/or the correct equipment necessary to prevent damage or the contamination of drinking water. Let us provide peace of mind with our irrigation maintenance plan.

  • Breakdowns are unavoidable with any mechanical system, and home irrigation systems and home sprinkler systems are no exception. Children at play or lawn mowers may disturb, brake or misalign heads. Heavy rains may sink sprinkler heads and debris can enter the irrigation system and upset seals and/or clog sprinkler nozzles. But the much larger problem we find, especially on self-installed or improperly installed irrigation systems, is underground leaks that can lead to gallons—if not hundreds of gallons—of water waste.

    • Adjustments to seasonal sprinkler and/or drip irrigation systems

    • Scheduling of irrigation intervals during cooler parts of the day to prevent water loss due to evaporation

    • An inspection of all zones and matching of your irrigation system with precipitation levels

    • Evaluation of coverage to ensure that it is both complete and not redundant

    • Adjustments to timers to ensure efficient functioning of the sprinkler and/or drip irrigation system

    • Testing the wiring from controller to valves to verify proper response

    • Checking of rain sensors, wire connections, backup batteries and back flow valves.

    • Inspection, cleaning, and/or replacement (if necessary) of screens

  • The cost of an irrigation system maintenance plan varies based on the frequency of visits, scale of your system, and scope of the procedures performed. Ultimately, Taurus Irrigation sets up appropriate arrangements with our clients to ensure longevity of your irrigation systems.

  • If your irrigation system was properly installed, an irrigation maintenance plan that follows proper winterization practices may be sufficient. However, many clients prefer to leave the adjustment of timers and spray arcs to us as a professionals.

  • In order to protect this (or any!) investment, long-term maintenance is critical. Proper maintenance of your irrigation system will prevent misaligned heads that, if improperly calibrated, can add up to hundreds of gallons of annual loss and unnecessarily high utility bills. Customers may also have collateral damages to plants or their material costs may increase even more as grass and other foliage may need to be replaced.
